   2004 Season

Edition No. 21

   July 20, 2004

Last year I was privileged to scribe the "Bullpen" after the All-Star game and was in 11th place at the time. This year I also get to write the "Bullpen" after the All-Star game and am in 10th place so things are looking up!! Now if only my 7 All-Stars could convince the rest of my team to play at such a level I could actually make it to the upper division before The Trip and enjoy said trip a little bit more.

Speaking of the All-Star game, I offer just a few ramblings and observations of the game and three day experience…   Did Sammy "Corky" Sosa really whiff at a meatball during the Home Run Derby?…  Did Piazza give away pitches to show-up Clemens?…  Was that Shamu’s female look alike that won the House from Century 21 and Miguel Tejada in the Home Run Derby?…  She sure looked like him!…  Were there enough Yankees on the AL squad?…  Derek Jeter has the all time highest All-Star game batting average!…  Would you want him as the Captain of your team?…  Did I mention that Sosa is a little shaky with the glove?…  Didn’t the MVP of the game play for the Yankees last year?…  Just wondering if any more Yankees could be in the game…  Even though the TV ratings were the lowest in years, I thought it was an entertaining game…  And the American League gets home field advantage for the World Series…  Finally, can I draft Sam Ryan for my team?

You can make your own deductions from this chart such as…  Does it surprise you that the Tribe had only one All-Star…  Or that it was Ronnie Belliard…  The Wahoos had no All-Star game starters but are running away with our league…  I got 20 points from Rogers and Loaiza for being All-Stars but they combined for a minus 35 points in their last starts before the All-Star game…  Do I vaguely remember the Senators dissing their very own Tom Glavine at the draft…  I’m sure they knew he would be an All-Star…  Just some more fodder for "TheTrip"…  Maybe it means nothing!

Mouse's Minute

Do you ever wonder what your team would be like if you could only draft to replace your players placed on the DL instead of every week…  Or which player has been on the most HSL teams this year…  Or who has the most players still on the their roster from our draft…  And the least…  Are you still thinking about what you would change if you were Bud Selig for a day…  Possibly the DH…  Salary caps…  All-Star Game bonus incentives…  Home Field advantage for the Victor…  What to do with the Expos…  Etc. etc…  Has Bob altered his thought process on pitchers…  Can the Wahoos lap him…  Will the Skipjacks luck hold again…  Should I change the name of my team…  Or hire Screech to run it…  Could this be the Red Birds year…  How far will the Tigers fall…  Should the Blues change their name…  It seems to have helped the Irates and Wahoos…  Will the Senators be denied this year…  Will the Cubs mount a resurgence…  And I wish the Reds continued good health.

That’s all I have for now! I look forward to seeing everyone in San Diego and may the Baseball Gods be kind to all!
