ROYALS NEAR CROWN

Just returned at 1:30 this morning from Kansas City, where Joe and Will and I saw the en fuego Royals top the Orioles by the score of 2-1 to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the American League Championship Series.  We had hoped to be able to meet up with Stretch for a pre- or intragame libation or two, but he reported that he will instead be going to the game this afternoon and, if necessary, tomorrow night.

10/14/14:  At Kauffman Stadium for the third ALCS game

Clearly a Full Moon Night at the K!

Last night’s game was one for the ages, from the ceremonial first pitch by HOF’er George Brett, to the unbelievable catches made by Moustakas at third, to the outstanding plays made by Cain in center field, to Alex Gordon’s diving catch in left, to Hosmer’s web gem at first, to the perfect bullpen pitching of Frasor, Herrera, Davis and Holland.  The stars were aligned.

It would be fantastic to see a repeat World Series matchup of the Cardinals and Royals from 1985, but the Giants will likely have something to say about that.

Anyway, it was a great night to be at Kauffman Stadium.  Go Royals!
