Highlights:
Possibly the best pitching match-up ever witnessed on a Hot Stove
League trip in which grizzled veteran Jack Morris schooled the
young Rocket by tossing a four-hit shutout. Clemens pitched 7-1/3
innings, giving up only seven hits while walking three and
striking out seven, but three of his seven hits were home runs, to
Joe Carter in the third, a two run shot; to Pat Borders in the
sixth; and to Dave Winfield in the bottom of the eighth, all four
runs scoring on the Yard balls.

Highlights:
The Hot Stove Leaguers saw Charles Nagy throw a five-hit shutout
against the visiting Yankees, walking none and striking out five,
in a game with very little offense that lasted exactly two hours.
The pregame highlight was having a chance to schmooze with
Itchie’s high school idol, Tim Burke, and the post-game talking
point was Itchie being dusted (you can have him!) by an
unimpressed young Cleveland female.

Highlights:
The hometown Tigers jumped out to an early lead with four runs in
the bottom of the first, two off the bat of Cecil Fielder who went
way deep onto the roof in left field off of Bob Milacki, and was
followed up with a Yard ball by Rob Deer. Sam Horn hit two
monstrous shots clean out of the stadium, but both way foul to the
right field side. After the Tigers scored three more runs in the
third to take a 7-0 lead, Orioles veteran Mike Flanagan came in to
eat up a few innings, and got blasted for eight earned runs in one
inning of work, after his manager refused to take him out despite
his baleful looks to the dugout after Flanny realized he had no
gas in the tank.
