Highlights:  The Hot Stove League quintet (Big Guy, B.T., Shamu, Stretch, Skipper) that wear the pants in their respective families enjoyed watching a Dodgers 8-2 pasting of the hometown Rockies on a beautiful August Rocky Mountain night.  The Dodgers began the scoring in the top of the 1st when Sellers doubled to right and then scored on a single by Aaron Miles.  They added a run in the 2nd when Rivera doubled to Center and Barajas singled to score him.  They broke it open in the top of the 3rd when Barajas homered with two men on base to extend the lead to 6-nil.  Kuroda cruised to his 9th win against 14 losses, while Hammel dropped his 12th decision of the year.

Highlights:  The Hot Stove League quartet (lost B.T. that day) enjoyed another beautiful, sun-splashed day at Coors Field, and saw the Rockies beat the Dodgers in 13 innings in a thriller.  After the Dodgers scored 2 in the top of the 12th on a Hexter Fowler misplay that resulted in an inside-the-park homer by Trent Oeltjen to give the Dodgers a 6-4 lead, the Rockies tied it up in the bottom of the 12th when Fowler walked, scored on a Todd Helton double, and then the Rockies scored on a tying grounder by pinch-hitter Eliezer Alfonzo.  Helton’s double came on the 15th pitch from closer Javy Guerra, in one of the best at-bats ever witnessed by the Hot Stove League contingency.  Helton, 8 two-strike pitches from Guerra before lining his double to right field.  As manager Jim Tracy put it, “I can’t tell you I’ve seen a better at-bat than Todd Helton.  Obviously, it’s the at-bat of the season.”
